We saw the babies today, and they look perfect. Doc says with 90% certainty that A and B are girls and 100% that C is a girl. He said it's typically VERY early to be able to tell, but he has state-of-the-art equipment, and when he looked, he confirmed what the sonographer told us. Girl, girl, girl!!! We already know we have a great girl recipe, and we are thrilled. We couldn't be happier.
Today was a scary appointment, and we're really thrilled to have gotten over this one of many hurdles. We met for about an hour with a genetic counselor and then had 2 sonograms and met with the doctor. The doctor was much more relaxed this time and said things like "the babies look fabulous." It was a much different tone than the gloom of 2 weeks ago. While you can never let your guard down with this type of pregnancy, we're at least able to breathe a little easier today, since our girls look perfect.
During the first sonogram, A&B were going nuts and doing flips and flops, while C sort of snoozed. A&B were literally all over each other. It was amazing to watch.
During the second sonogram, C was much more active and A&B seemed to snooze. It's surreal to actually see all the babies inside of me. It's....incredible. They look just like little people (2 inches long from head to bottom) just playing like crazy in there.
Here are their stats:
Baby A
CRL (crown to rump length) 5.2cm
heartrate 160
nuchal translucency 1.3 (they want to see this number be less than 2mm)
nasal bone present (if this is missing, they worry about genetic problems)
11 weeks 6 days
Baby B
CRL (crown to rump length) 5.3cm
heartrate 162
nuchal translucency 1.3
nasal bone present
12 weeks
Baby C
CRL (crown to rump length) 5cm
heartrate 157
nuchal translucency 1.2
nasal bone present
11 weeks 5 days
I have an appointment with my regular OB next week and then go back to Dr. Berry in 4 weeks for the full anatomy scan. That's another big one.
